Paralegal Scholarships

National Federation of Paralegal AssociationsStudying to become a paralegal isn't for the weak of heart. It takes patience and hard work with a touch of creative drive to successfully complete training. Another essential factor is funding. Having adequate resources can make or break your pursuit of higher education, so it's important to know what financial aid options are available for your benefit. Check out some of these scholarship resources that could lighten the financial load, or do away with it altogether.

National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA)

The National Federation of Paralegal Associations sponsors the Thomson-West scholarship for promising paralegal students. In order to qualify, individuals must be student members of the organization, display academic excellence, and demonstrate the ability to write extraordinary essays that are related to the paralegal industry. The amount awarded is up to $3500. 

American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE)

Each year, the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE) offers the LEX Honor Society scholarship to aspiring paralegals. Student members are eligible to receive $500 from the award.

Association of Legal Assistants and Paralegals (NALA)

Paralegal students with high academic performance in their concentration can be recognized by NALA's Certified Paralegal Scholarship Award which is offered to two candidates annually. Qualified individuals must be prepared to graduate within 9 months of receiving the reward and nominated by an instructor or professional in the field. Recipients are given a scholarship award certificate, an application fee to be admitted to the Certified Paralegal program, and study guide materials. Their accomplishment is also announced on NALA's website and at the organization's annual convention.

Warner, Norcross & Judd

Three scholarships ranging from $1,000 and $5,000 are awarded to students in paralegal training programs in Grand Rapids, MI. Individuals must be members of a minority group, possess average GPAs, and live in the area.

Hubert & Gladys Estabrook Charitable Trust Scholarship

Paralegal students who attend Dayton, Ohio's Sinclair Community College are eligible to be awarded the Hubert & Gladys Estabrook Charitable Trust Scholarship. More than one applicant is chosen each year, and individuals must have a strong academic background to be considered.

Cleveland Association for Paralegals

The Joy R.P. King Memorial Scholarship is awarded to student members of the Cleveland Association for Paralegals. Requirements include an impressive academic background and a stellar essay about the field.
